Session with the geologist: El Camino & intense climbing workout
I picked up Kyle (Houston, US) in Malaga. We arranged quite early, so when we got to El Chorro had enough time to eat breakfast in Hotel La Garganta restaurant: eggs with fried bacon (in fact spanish, salty jamon serrano), toasts with marmelade, coffee and fresh orange juice. Kyle seemed to be impressed of El Camino del Rey and told me some facts about the geology – so now I know a few tips more about local geology, sedimentation, prehistoric rivers and vertical rock layers in the gorge! After short rest, Kyle tried belaying (both top-rope and at leading) with Click Up, he practised some leading techniques and then we did an intense climbing session, doing some 6a and 6b in a row. A very nice and sunny day of 11/11/11!
